Pulmonologist billing for code 94620

Dana Posted Tue 03rd of May, 2016 13:38:16 PM
My pulmonologist is sending patients for cpt code 94620. He is interpreting the test and reviewing the findings with them. Does cpt code 94620 have a reading and interpretation code or should we just add a 26 modifier with cpt 94620?

CPT 94620 has a professional component and a technical component. If your pulmonologist has only done the review and interpretation (professional component), bill CPT code 94620 with 26 modifier. The place where the test has been performed (technical component) will bill the CPT code 94620 with the TC modifier. If both services (professional and technical component) have been performed at the same place, bill the CPT code without any modifier.
