Prostate needle biopsy

Nancy Posted Thu 23rd of April, 2015 18:45:49 PM

I want to know if a prostate biopsy can ever be performed as preventative. (like cancer screening for colon) Most of our patient have a diagnosis of 790.93. If it is performed as a preventative procedure would family history of prostate cancer be the correct code?

use ICD-9 code V16.42 for family history of malignant neoplasm of prostate.
