William Ivan Posted Thu 22nd of May, 2014 17:21:01 PM

Is there a good tool that you could point me to that help my physician decided whether or not he should be billing a level 2 established office visit vs a level 3 established office visit, ect... I am familiar with the guidelines of each encounter but I was hoping to locate some relatively easy guide to help in the selection process and give him a better understand how to properly code a level 2, vs level 3, vs level 4 etc..

All codes are supported by the documentation and the 3 components of the E/M service there is no easy answer for this question. The best place to find general information regarding E/M levels is Appendix C of the CPT ®book. There are many clinical examples in regard to a patient’s presenting problem that can be used as a guide for E/M services.
