Problem Lists from ICD-9 to ICD-10

Bernadette Posted Mon 28th of September, 2015 15:06:05 PM

Hello,

We wanted to know if the Problem Lists prior to 10/01/2015 are in ICD-9, would we have to update them to ICD-10 after 10/01/15? We know that as of 10/01/2015, if a new problem is to be added to the Problem List it must in ICD-10.
Thanks!

Its all depend on the date of service. If procedure is going to take place prior to 10/01/2015, then you need to bill ICD-9 code for that particular diagnosis. If procedure is going to take place after 10/01/2015, then you need to follow ICD-10.

If procedure is going to take place prior to 10/01/2015, however you are billing for that particular diagnosis after 10/01/2015, then you have to follow ICD-9.
