posterior repair

Lynn Posted Thu 17th of December, 2015 07:15:40 AM

Our doctor performed a combined surgery with urology at our hospital. Urology performed the anterior repair and our gyn doctor performed the posterior repair. Would we need to share the 57260 with a 62 mod? Or can we use 57250 and they use the 57240 ?

Thanks for your question.

As the guidelines, when two surgeons (same or different specialty) are each performing parts of the same procedure simultaneously, then both physicians bill the same procedure code appending modifier 62. So, in this scenario, you will bill CPT 57260 with modifier 62.
