post SAB anemia

Susan Posted Fri 20th of November, 2015 20:14:05 PM

Patient was seen in the ER for spontaneous abortion at 15 weeks. Returned to ER 2 days later for lower abd pain, symptomatic anemia and blood transfusion. Would this be considered post partum anemia? Or other complication of SAB. We never treated the miscarriage, only saw her at the second ER visit.

Hi Susan,

These are not postpartum complications. Postpartum period starts after childbirth to initial six weeks. We will consider these in other complications of spontaneous abortion.
