Plication of AVF- Hand

Nicole Posted Thu 23rd of October, 2014 10:22:39 AM

The doctor did a "Plication of AV Fistuala, Left Hand"

The code that keeps popping up for me is the 36819. Would this be the proper code for this procedure?

Thanks for your patience. You should use 37799; Unlisted procedure, vascular surgery to report vascular procedures in the cardiovascular system that does not have a specific code. The procedure you described is not represented by any of the standard and active CPT® codes available.
When reporting a procedure with an unlisted code, submit a cover letter explaining the reason for choosing the unlisted code instead of a defined, active code. Include one or more similar codes, and compare your service to those codes to justify the claim amount you are billing. Also include the operative notes or other relevant documentation to strengthen the claim and to avoid a possible denial.
