Please verify this CPT code for a surgery

A patient with dementia placed numerous key rings around his penis. They did not penetrate through the skin but were placed around the outside of the penis. Would CPT code 54115 be appropriate with a 52 modifier because the foreign object was not in deep penile tissue as the description of that code reads?

Hi, If the provider removes a penile scrotal ring that was not inside the penis, you should not use 54115, as this code represents the deep foreign body removal. For this scenario, there is no direct CPT code and hence, you may report the unlisted code 55899, Unlisted procedure, male genital system. Please refer to the following link: https://www.supercoder.com/coding-newsletters/my-urology-coding-alert/reader-question-54115-ensure-deep-tissue-fbr-before-coding-107297-article. Hope this helps! Thanks.
