Use CPT code 76873. {Please read the below scenerio. This patient with a diagnosis of prostate cancer was seen at our facility for a transrectal ultrasound of the prostate. The procedure was performed for planimetry measurements for brachytherapy planning. What are the appropriate code(s) in this case?

Report CPT code 76873, Ultrasound, transrectal; prostate volume study for brachytherapy treatment planning, for the procedure performed. The transrectal ultrasound is utilized to determine the exact size of the prostate gland, the extent of the cancer, and the amount of radioactivity required. Information provided by this evaluation determines the number of radioactive seeds needed and where they should be placed. This process is referred to by some clinicians as prostate mapping.
