PICC Line Placement

Susan Posted Wed 04th of September, 2013 14:45:19 PM

If a nurse places a PICC line under the direct supervision of the radiologist, can you bill?

"No, in the hospital setting, the physician cannot bill a professional fee unless he/she actually inserts the PICC. Under certain conditions in the physician office setting, physicians can bill “incident to” when they supervise a service performed by an RN. This rule, however, does not apply to PICCs inserted in the hospital."
