Physician documented they gave adult patient a pediatric flu vaccine

Terry Posted Fri 09th of May, 2014 17:17:23 PM

Documentation states an adult patient was given the pediatric dose influenza vaccine 90655. Should I use 90655 code since it is the product that was actually given to the patient or should I change it to 90656 to reflect influenza virus administered to individuals 3 years and older?

It is better to clarify with the physician first rather than submitting a wrong code. You should only bill what is there documented.
