Phototherapy of a newborn

Gerri Posted Mon 18th of October, 2010 12:26:45 PM

Is there a specific CPT code for this type of phototherapy? We had been using 99199 to report this service.
Thanks !

If it is part of an E&M code as part of the Hospital care/birthing center, then we can bill in the range 99460-99463.

Otherwise, no such specific CPT code available.

Only the following HCPC codes available in case of Phototherapy, but applicable HCPC codes are as below:
E0202 Phototherapy (bilirubin) light with photometer
S9098 Home visit, phototherapy services (e.g., Bili-lite), including equipment rental, nursing services, blood draw, supplies, and other services, per diem

I hope, you can bill the above codes with appropriate neonatal and perinatal ICD codes.
