pet therapy billing

We have a recently certified therapy dog in our pain management clinic. She is with patients during procedures, treatments and office visits. She positively impacts both physical and mental issues. We understand the documentation has to be adequate for the code, but we are having trouble finding a cpt outside of the unlisted 90899. Can you suggest a cpt code for her services? Thanks

Doctor has impacted physical and mental issue of the patient, this should be clearly documented that what all the things has been taken care of, like did she prepared the reports of patient's psychiatric status or she did interpretation or explanation of results of psychiatric or other medical examination and procedure or evaluation of hospital records, then use CPT 90889, 90887 or 90885 respectively. If all these criteria are not met with the doctor's service then CPT 90899 (Unlisted code) is the most appropriate code. Also include the medical notes or other relevant documentation to strengthen the claim and to avoid a possible decrease in amount. Your payers will consider claims with unlisted procedure codes on a case by case basis, and they will determine payment based on the documentation you provide.
