PET Scans

Cassie Posted Wed 24th of November, 2010 18:25:28 PM

What would be the correct coding procedure when a PET scan is unable to be completed due to pain or Claustrophobia, Example: skull to thigh ordered but neck to thigh done due to conditions above. Would it be considered a limited procedure or would I attach a modifer and if a modifier is needed which would be most appropriate to use?

Most appropriate is to use modifier 52 as this being a reduced radiological procedure.
