Peritoneal Dialysis

Ramona Posted Fri 10th of July, 2015 08:10:15 AM

The nephrologist I work for had a patient switch from Hemodialysis to Peritoneal dialysis and I am not sure how to bill for this service. Do I bill 90945 for each time the patient is seen within the month or 90947 for the entire month.

CPT code 90945 or 90947 are reported for each inpatient dialysis procedure. They are differentiated in terms of evaluation performed by the physician or qualified health care professional. If only 1 evaluation was done during the Dialysis procedure other than hemodialysis report CPT 90945, but if repeated evaluation was done with or without substantial revision of dialysis prescription, bill CPT 90947.
