Leorah Posted Thu 23rd of May, 2019 10:59:35 AM
Please help with coding this and please explain your answer. "Our doctors performed a RT internal jugular vein thrombectomy. Then the right transfer sinus was catheterized and the right sigmoid sinus . Thrombectomy was performed on the right sigmoid sinus. A repeat angiogram was performed. Then the superior sagittal sinus was catheterized and then a thrombectomy was performed on the superior sagittal sinus. Then 10 Mg of intra sinus TPA was administered using pulse injection from the proximal to distal superior sagittal sinus. Further thrombectomy was performed again on the right transverse sigmoid is superior sagittal sinus. Repeat venogram was performed" Thank you

As per the provided documentation the appropriate CPT codes will be:

37187 (Thrombectomy on the right sigmoid sinus and superior sagittal sinus)

36012 X 2 (catheter placement)

37212-59 (TPA administration)

75860-59 (Venogram for right sigmoid sinus)

75870-59 (Venogram for superior sagittal sinus)

Note: - CPT 37187 is reported once per session, regardless of the number of veins treated. The code specifies “vein(s)” which means any number of veins treated is reported as 37187.
