Are you able to tell me when Medicare Part B and other commercial payers started paying for the code 90911 (Biofeedback Therapy) instead of the Diagnostic codes 91122 and 51784 for GYN patients. When this is performed by a Physical therapist in an office setting. Also does Michigan Medicaid recognize any of the these codes (91122, 51784 and 90911) with these CMS changes.

Hi Sara,

CPT code 90911 is the most appropriate CPT code for Biofeedback therapy. This comprehensive code includes the services for CPT codes for EMG studies of anal or urethral sphincter and manometry studies and hence CPT codes 91122 and 51784 should not be billed with this CPT code.

Yes, Physical therapists can perform these services in the office setting.

Also please be noted, Biofeedback service is not covered by Michigan Medicaid.
