ON A PEDIATRIC PRE OP WITH MORE TIME FOR LABS REPORTS ETC HOW WOULD YOU BILL IS ANY EXTRA TIME ALLOWED WITH THIS OFFICE VISIT

SuperCoder Answered Fri 27th of June, 2014 10:57:57 AM

1. If the provider is same for both pre-op visit and surgery then this E&M visit will not be reportable separately as per guidelines.
2. If both providers are different then we can code it as per documentation (99211-99215)
3. We can also code it as per time invested, if it is clearly documented that the provider has invested more than 50% of total time in face to face with patient and/or family member. Reviewing the lab report for extra duration will not be counted separately.

Thanks.
