Payment for Procedure when incision not made

Surgeon was planning to perform 63020 procedure. Anesthesia was started however upon placement on the table surgeon found a carbuncle and aborted the surgery. Is surgeon eligible for reimbursement 63020 with modifier 53. No incision was made.

Yes, you may bill code 63020 with modifier 53.

Modifier 53 represents 'Discontinued Procedure'.
