Ovarian suspension

Tonya Posted Mon 12th of July, 2010 18:32:47 PM

Doc did a supracervical hysterectomy with LSO. He also did a R ovarian suspension procedure.

Can anyone tell me how to (if you can) cod the ovarian suspension?

Thanks,
Rhonda

If the ob-gyn had moved the ovary out of harm’s way due to radiation treatment, the procedure is referred to as transposition of the ovary and you’d report 58825. In this case, however, if the surgeon sutured the ovary in place, so it can no longer twist. You won’t find a CPT code for this, so use a 22 modifier with hysterectomy code. But remember to have necessary documentation to prove 22 modifier.
