Osteotomy Nonunion

Ingrid Posted Tue 30th of August, 2016 10:27:03 AM
We had performed an ulnar shortening osteotomy which went to nonunion. What is the appropriate ICD-10 code for a nonunion of an osteotomy? Thank You.

Hi,

Osteotomy is an intentional "fracturing" "breaking" "severing" of a bone(s) to accomplish the outcome desired. So, you can use ICD-10 CM fracture code with the 7th character for subsequent with non union(K).

Thanks
