L Posted Wed 30th of March, 2016 23:20:09 PM

How would I code the following:

PROCEDURE: Osteophyte excision, distal tibia, right.
Thanks.

Hi,
CPT code 27640, please review detailed procedure to see if craterization, saucerization or diaphysectomy is done. If only excision of small osteophyte is done, you can code 27635.
ICD10 code M25.771, since no direct code exists for osteophyte of distal tibia, we may assign code for the ankle or you can assign ICD10 code M25.70 for unspecified joint.
Hope this helps!
Thanks.
