We are searching for an appropriate IDC-9 code for a newborn with left side oral angular paralysis. Would you know an approriate code?

Thanks for your question.

There is no specific code given for oral angular paralysis in ICD-9-CM. We can code this condition with ICD code 767.5 (Facial paralysis, congenital).

Hope this helps.

Yes, thank you. Would 744.89 or 744.9 be appropriate as well?

744.89:Other specified congenital anomalies of face and neck
744.9:Unspecified congenital anomalies of face and neck

The two codes are not specific, the 767.5 would be more appropriate for the oral angular paralysis.
