I need help with a code for an open debridement of the clavicle for spurring in the AC joint as well as ganglion cyst removal through the same incision. The doctor debrided the clavicle and removed the cyst with a rongeur.

Hi,

CPT code which is used for open debridement of bone is 11044, but in above mentioned scenario physician is performing spurring which means he is removing spur (osteophyte) from the bone so the appropriate code would be 23180 [Partial excision (craterization, saucerization, or diaphysectomy) bone (eg, osteomyelitis), clavicle].

The correct code for ganglion excision from AC joint is unlisted i.e. 23929.

Thanks
