Hi, Z34- is for Encounter for supervision of normal pregnancy, but if miscarriage occurs it is not normal pregnancy. O03.9 is used to report Complete or unspecified spontaneous abortion without complication Miscarriage NOS Spontaneous abortion NOS. Thanks

So when a patient comes in monthly for her visits we need use O03.9 as her primary dx? I should have made my question a littler clear. I was referring to their office visits.

Hi, I am not able to get your question. Did patient had history of miscarriage or she had miscarriage in the present pregnancy? If the patient had history of miscarriage and for normal OB visit you will use Dx Z34- . If patient had miscarriage she wont come monthly for OB visit. In that case you need to report O03.9 with the visit code. Thanks
