effective 7/1/17 NGS are changing E/M guidelines do you know if that effect the rest of the US and CMS? if so when do you think it will
SuperCoder Posted 1 Year(s) ago

Yes, NGS changing the guidelines for the E/M. It will be different from the CMS guidelines, specifically in the examination section. Major portion of change is in Detailed level of physical examination. There will be requirement of 6 to 7 body areas/organ systems for “Detailed” physical examination without one or more areas and/or organ systems is documented in detail, as CMS guidelines suggests.

NOTE- SuperCoder audit tool, EM AUDITOR will be having NGS based E/M Section on and after 07/01/2017.

Do you think CMS will change their guidelines in the future to match NGS?
SuperCoder Posted 1 Year(s) ago

Well, both the entities are different as per their perspective. NGS just decided to make these changes, whereas CMS guidelines are widely used. As of now there is no such intimation from CMS regarding the change of their guidelines.
