I have a doctor performing a brachial plexus exploration with subtotal resection of brachial plexus tumor (consistent with Schwannoma per path report). Is there a CPT code for this?

Greetings from SuperCoder.com!

When we look ICD-10 by index, it says “see also Neoplasm, nerve, benign”, which comes out to be D36.12 (Benign neoplasm of peripheral nerves and autonomic nervous system, upper limb, including shoulder). For CPT, the resection/treatment of a brachial plexus tumor (neuroma/neurofibroma/Schwannoma) should be billed with CPT code 64790 (Excision of neurofibroma or neurolemmoma; major peripheral nerve). Brachial plexus comes under major peripheral nerves.

Please feel free to write if you have any further questions.

Thanks.
