Nerve transfer AIN to UMN with Axogen conduit

Linh Posted Mon 18th of January, 2016 15:07:37 PM

Pt has low ulnar nerve palsy (in wrist). Doctor performed a nerve transfer by transecting the AIN and transferring to the Ulnar motor nerve connecting/suturing with Axogen conduit. Would this be 64910 or 64719? The neuroplasty code is bundled into 64910. Axogen seems like a nerve conduit. Thanks!

64910 Nerve repair; with synthetic conduit or vein allograft (eg, nerve tube), each nerve seems appropriate.

Code 64910 is intended to report bridging with a synthetic conduit or vein allograft.
A conduit vessel is wrapped around the injured nerve endings and sutured in place, leaving a gap between the nerve endings. The freshened nerve endings regenerate new tissue that "fills in" with axons that grow new neural tissue across nerve gaps bridged by either a synthetic conduit or an autogenous vein graft.
