Nerve Conduction Studies - CPT Appendix J - Counting

Donna m Posted Thu 29th of August, 2013 10:13:46 AM

In CPT Appendix J, all the motor, sensory and mixed nerves are list (lettered) with their corresponding branches (numbered). When counting nerve conduction studies to choose the appropriate CPT code, the guideline states, "Each nerve constitutes one unit of service". So do we only count to nerves listed or can we also count the branches listed?

Branches are included within each nerve. Count 1 NCS for each nerve.
