Nerve conductiom studies

Amani Posted Mon 19th of August, 2013 12:23:06 PM

Need guidelines regarding 95907-95913. the provider is billing 95907, 95908,95909,95910,95911 on the same date of service for the same patient. Is this consider unbundling?

NCCI bundling edits were created to prevent incorrect billing of these diagnostic tests. The nerve conduction study codes, 95907-95913, are bundled into the "stand alone" extremity needle EMG codes, 95860-95864. NCCI does not allow a modifier to be used to bypass these bundling edits.

Resubmit a corrected claim with the nerve conduction study code and the correct add-on code for the needle EMG testing. For example if both extremity EMG testing meet the criteria for a complete extremity study:
95908 (1 unit)

95886 (2 units)
The CPT section guidelines include information on the differentiation between a limited and complete extremity EMG test.
