My doctor did a hand asst. lap nephrectomy 50548, then he had to do an open ureterectomy. Not sure what to use in this case.

For ureterectomy use CPT 50660. When the provider surgically removes an abnormal ureter, or one which is not in its proper position and terminates at a different site. Procedure performed through a combination of approaches abdominal, vaginal, and or perineal approach. Suggestion- As per coding guidelines- whenever same location close procedure turn into open procedure, then always bill for open procedure.
