Multiple joint injections

Brenda Posted Thu 22nd of September, 2011 20:38:44 PM

I need help w/multiple injections. Pt had 2 SI injections, one superior and the other inferior and also had hip(20610) injection and trigger point injections (20553). I am not sure how to bill these and which modifiers to use. I am thinking 20610 w/dx 726.5, 20610 x2 w/modifier 51 dx 737.30 724.2 and lastly 20553 w/dx 737.30 724.2.

Thank you for any advice.

For hip injection -- 20610
For 2 SI injections -- 20610 x 2 - modifier 51
Trigger point injection -- 20552 or 20553 (this depends upon no. of muscles injected, NOT on no. of injections given), then append mod. 59 with the code (20552 / 20553).

Cannot say about Dx codes, since there's no mention of the conditions, and moreover you have already provided the ICD codes.
