morphology of neoplasms appendix A example M8470/1

Rachel Posted Tue 24th of August, 2010 12:35:42 PM

'M8470/1" can this code be used on claim form or should we refer back to the neoplasms list?

ICD-9 does not specify.

The morphology codes should not be reported as diagnosis codes on a claim, but they can help you figure out the proper diagnosis code to use. The morphology codes are used by pathologists to collect further data on the types of neoplasms that they are analyzing. So you need to refer back to neoplasm list.
