my providers - orthopedic specialty - want to bill for interpretation of xrays a patient brings in with them. scenario: patient falls & breaks wrist, goes to urgent care - has xrays done there. if the patient then brings the xray disc & the doctor views the images in the office setting (pos 11), can he then bill the office visit, 99213 & 73100 -26? thank you

Hi,

As per the above scenario X ray interpretation seems to be the part of office visit because orthopaedic provider had not ordered X ray. He had only interpreted patient's previous records for further treatment. Hence, office visit codes would be the appropriate option to bill for the above scenario.

Hope this helps!
