Annie Posted Wed 23rd of March, 2016 16:27:37 PM

Provider did surgery on TAH BSO and want to add modifier 22. The uterus was approx 20 weeks in size.Durning the procedure detail provider did not document anything stating it was difficult. Do we still use modifier?

Use of modifier 22 will only be appropriate if the physician documents spending more time than he typically spends on a procedure, usually due to some technical difficulty, and gives enough reason for same. As per information provided by you, use of modifier 22 does not seem appropriate in this case. However, it entirely depends upon the details and documentation of the case. Thanks.
