Medicare making it mandatory to have CPC on staff

Thomas Posted Thu 18th of October, 2012 15:10:49 PM

I have heard from several people that effective 2014 in order for anyone to appeal claims Medicare will require the office to have a CPC on staff in order to do so. Can anyone please clarify this? I have not found any information on CMS website to verify or deny.
Thank you

Thomas, I have not heard of this either. I will do some checking and verify or clarify.

Thomas, I have asked several CMS insiders. None of whom have heard of this. For CPC, do you mean a certified professional coder? Please provide additional information on where/from whom you have heard this so that we can investigate further.
