I HAVE A QUESTION RELATED TO CODING A MISSED ABORTION OR BLIGHTED OVEM FOR AN OB. THE TEST IS ORDERED AS AN OB BUT IT IS A MISSED ABORTION I HAVE BEEN COFDING THAT WITH THE O02.1 AS 1ST CODE AND #OF WEEKS SAY IF LESS THAN 8 WITH Z3A.01 CODE. I AM NOW BEING TOLD THAT IT HAS TO CODED AS A PELVIC 76856 AND/OR 76830. ACCORDING TO THE CPT CODE BOOK THERE HAVE TO BE OVARY AND UTERINE MEASUREMENTS FOR THESE CODES TO BE USED WHICH THERE ARE NOT. SO, IS THE CORRECT WAY TO CODE THOSE AS OB OR PELVIC? PLEASE EMAIL RESPONSE TO vpeyton@drflinn.com
