Mechanical thrombectomy non coronary

Super Posted Tue 19th of April, 2016 12:12:53 PM
If the physician does a thrombectomy of the femoral, popliteal and the tibioperoneal trunk can I code both 37184 fem/pop and 37185 tibial peroneal. 37185 says "second and all subsequent vessel(s) within the same vascular family."

37184 and 37185 can be taken if thrombectomy is performed through percutaneous approach. If the procedure is performed through open approach, then CPT code 34201 and 34203 should be taken.
