meal plan

Marilyn Posted Mon 13th of April, 2020 11:40:28 AM
There's a Nutritional patient with just a "Meal Plan" service, and the provider want's to bill for the service. Can we bill and what would be the procedure code we can use other than the 97802 or 97803?

Hi Marilyn,

Thanks for your question.

Meal plan is a part of nutrition therapy. So, it should not be billed separately. But if the patient is in to just have a meal plan, then we advise you to report code from 99201 - 99215 (Evaluation and Management) series.

Please feel free to write if you have any question.

Thanks.
