Annette Posted Wed 19th of October, 2016 15:20:04 PM
Hi, How do you bill for an MD performing medical manipulation? Osteopathic Manipulative is 98925-98929 and chiro is 98940-98943 but I can't find which codes to use for an MD. Thanks!

Osteopathic manipulation (98925-98929) are the unique manual treatment that are used to treat somatic dysfunction and related disorders. Body regions included are head, cervical thoracic, lumbar, sacral, pelvic, extremities, rib cage, abdomen, and viscera.

Chiropractic manipulation (98940-98943) are the unique manual treatment technique used to influence joint and neurophysiological function.

As per above question it is not clear what type of manipulation doctor has been performed. Please provide some more details about the procedure and area of manipulation for appropriate answer.

Mostly looking for spinal manipulation. Osteopaths bill and use the OMT codes. We are trying to find out if a medical doctor can bill out a spinal manipulation code and what it would be. Thanks!

Use CPT 22505 if doctor has performed manipulation of spine with anesthesia (any region). If performing manipulation without anesthesia then use CPT 97140.
