Maloney Dilator done in stomach

Heidi Posted Mon 10th of September, 2018 13:37:53 PM
Procedure: EGD. Evidence of a sleeve gastrectomy was found in the gastric body, this was characterized by dilated gastric pouch area containing bile. Scope was withdrawn. Dilation performed with a maloney dilator with moderate resistance at 60 Fr. 43450-51 cannot be used as it is only for the esophagus, is there a CPT code for a Maloney dilator in the stomach? Can we just billed this with an unspecified code?

Hi Sherry,

If your physician has performed EGD and dilation of stomach, then you may report code 43245 (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy, flexible, transoral; with dilation of gastric/duodenal stricture(s) (eg, balloon, bougie)).

Please feel free to write if you have any question.

Thanks.
