Any idea of a CPT for laser lithotripsy, as well as, electohydraulic laser treatment to fragment & remove a 3 cm urethral stone? I've considered 52315 or 52317-52.

Hi Charlene, As per the above documentation, CPT code for laser lithotripsy for removal of 3cm urethral stone will be 52318.

I'm confused as to the suggestion of 52318 since its description clearly states the location as bladder. In my situation all the work was performed within the urethra. Please provide supporting evidence of the cpt choice.

Hi Charlene, Sorry for the confusion. The above code was just in response to the size of stone from 52317 to 52318. However, the correct code will be 52310 if there is no mention of any complication in the above procedure performed. Moreover, if there is any complication in the procedure due to previous surgery or the size or condition of the stone then only we will report 52315 depending on documentation. Thank you.
