Lipoma Excision

Susquehanna Valley Posted Tue 16th of December, 2014 09:32:19 AM

I will be coding lipoma excisions today. There are 3 separate excisions on the neck. Do I add each excision measurement together and just use 1 cpt code, or would I code each excision separately.

I know I have to take into consideration the depth of the excisions as well as the location and the size. I just wasn't sure if I add the measurements together and use 1 code, or each excision would have its on cpt code.

You should be using the excision codes in the 21552-21556 for your codes. You should select a code for each excision based on the depth and size of the lipoma.

For additional information regarding billing of lipomas this please see the following link.

Hope this helps.
