LINQ to dual chamber PPM

Kim Posted Thu 14th of January, 2016 11:36:40 AM

We had a patient that had a LINQ put in on 9/18/15 then came in on 12/7/15 for a dual chamber pacemaker. This was still in the 90 day global from the LINQ implant. Medicare denied PPM saying it was included in the payment/allowance for another procedure. How should I have billed this ? I just billed 33208 for PPM.

If your documentation supports the medical necessity of the procedure. You can bill the CPT code 33208 with -79 modifier (Unrelated Procedure or Service by the Same Physician or Other Qualified Health Care Professional During the Postoperative Period). Kindly make sure your document supports the procedure.
