Left frontal cranioplasty

Need assistance in coding the following: Patient has previous history of cerebral abscess and osteomyelitis with resulted cranial defect.

Op report: Left frontal region prepped. Surgery begun by making incision over the previous scar with a knife and dissecting down through the subcutaneous layers with Bovie until underlying bone was reached at the edge of the cranial defect. A plane developed superficial to the brain, but deep to the overlying muscle and galea to reflect the flap and expose the cranial defect, the custom made polyethylene ketone cranial defect, the repair device was then attached with titanium craniotomy plates. Careful irrigation with antibiotic solution was done to again ensure no debris or infections risk material was left at the operative site. the would was then closed in multiple layers using vicryl for the temporalis and galea and a subcuticular monocryl stitch and dermabone glue for the skin.

62140 represents 'Cranioplasty for skull defect; up to 5 cm diameter'.

62141 represents 'Cranioplasty for skull defect; larger than 5 cm diameter'.
