Laparoscopic gastric revision

Nicole Posted Tue 13th of October, 2015 11:19:43 AM

Patient presented in the O.R. for a laparoscopic gastric revision with resection of enlarged pouch and revision of gastrojejunostomy. The patient has a history of failed roux-en-y bypass. Would the unlisted code of 43659 encompass all the work done here or is there a more appropriate code?

Thank You,

Well, you are right. It is better to go unlisted code with additional documentation, there is no specific code for the scenario. I also prefer prefer CPT 43659: Unlisted laparoscopic procedure, stomach. Kindly make it a practice to attached the proper op-report with the claim form when billing unlisted code to avoid the denial or reduction in dollar value. Hope it helps!
