lap appy with partial cecectomy

Laura Posted Fri 08th of January, 2016 16:01:08 PM

My physician performed a laparoscopic appendectomy with partial cecectomy for a large adenomatous polyp at the appendiceal orifice. What should I code for this. Please help!

For laparoscopic appendectomy with partial cecectomy one should code CPT 44204, 44970-59.
As per the research articles on the same, code 44970 can be misused, hence, you should confirm with your insurance plan and code accordingly.
