Laceration repair with ligation of artery

Renee Posted Tue 26th of October, 2010 14:29:56 PM

Patient has a 6-cm laceration just anterior to the left ear with laceration to the artery. Physician performs ligation of the artery with a stitch and repairs the laceration. Would you code the laceration repair only? When we code the ligation of the artery we get an unlisted CPT. Thanks in advance for your help.
