Joint aspiration was nonproductive

Charlene Posted Wed 06th of February, 2019 15:30:45 PM
My doctor attempted to aspirate wrist joint, but there was no fluid present. Is it appropriate to bill 20605?

Thank you for your Question.

Cpt code 20605 would be still billable as the doctor performed all the steps necessary to aspirate fluid from the joint area and documentation support doctor's work.

Hope this Helps!
