Jejunostomy tube

E. maria Posted Wed 09th of December, 2015 16:16:24 PM

What is the correct CPT code for removal of a jejunostomy tube? I know that this is usually part of an E/M code however, patient had this jejunostomy tube removed at the outpatient hospital setting due extreme pain.

Thanks for you question,

Replacement of a jejunostomy tube is reported with 49451; however, there is no specific CPT code available for reporting the removal of a jejunostomy tube alone (without replacement). The most appropriate unlisted code, 43999 Unlisted procedure, stomach should be reported for jejunostomy removal.
